Yesterday, Thursday 9th May 2024, the County Assembly of Garissa led by the speaker Hon. Abdi I. Gure and the Clerk Mr. Mohamud Santur , appeared before the Senate County Public Accounts Committee. The committee, chaired by Hon. Senator Cherarkey Samson, conducted an audit review of the Auditor General’s reports on the Assembly’s financial statements for the years 2020/2021 and 2021/2022.
During the meeting, the Assembly addressed and resolved all issues highlighted in the reports. They were encouraged to focus on rectifying minor concerns to ensure future reports are unqualified.
The Committee praised the Assembly for their meticulous record-keeping and adherence to regulatory standards, acknowledging their commitment to sound financial management and governance practices. This acknowledgment underscores the Assembly’s dedication to responsible governance and financial integrity.
